Microsoft has released an update that is dated October 8, 2008. This update fixes issues in the following components in Microsoft Solution for Hosted Messaging and Collaboration 4.5.

• ActiveDirectoryProvider.msi
• Exchange2007Provider.msi
• DNSProvider.msi
• HostedActiveDirectoryNS.msi
• HostedActiveDirectoryWS.msi
• RPCHttpConfigTool.msi
• pwdb40ssis.msi
• DNSClient.msi

Additionally, this update also includes native 64-bit versions of the following components:

• CategorizerOverrideAgent-x64.msi
• SmtpDomainCacheTask-x64.msi

Issues that the update rollup fixes

This update rollup fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

• When more than one user has the same common name (CN) attribute, a server error is returned to the end-user from the RPCHTTPConfig Web site.
• An OutOfMemoryException exception is returned from the Exchange2007Provider component when you run a Get-AcceptedDomain command.
• Multiple issues occur with the Microsoft Exchange 2007 Out Of Office (OOF) agent.
• When you run an "Import Data from PlanManager to PWDB40" SQL agent job, some error messages are logged on the Log File viewer.
• When you try to create a TXT record by using the HMC DNS Provider, the HMC DNS Provider does not pass the DescriptiveText property that is required to create a Microsoft DNS_TXT Type..
• The Hosted Active Directory Web Service could not set the <properties> element of the CreateUser component through the Web Service class library.
• A Hosted Active Directory Web Service exception is thrown when the process reads the response of the CreateIIWResellerOrganization component by using the Web service proxy class.

There are many updates released after HMC4.0 first release version, here is a simple list:
Main rollup update:

1. Update Rollup 1 for the Hosted SharePoint services
2. Update Rollup 2 for the Hosted Exchange services
3. Update Rollup 3 for the Hosted Exchange services (included Rollup2)
4. Update Rollup 4 for the Hosted Exchange services (included Rollup3)

Others not included in the rollups above:

In Outlook, go to Tools|Address Book. From the drop-down list, choose the "CRM Contacts" Address Book. Is it blank?

If so, there's an easy way to correct the problem.

1. In Outlook, choose Options from the CRM Menu
2. Click on the Address Book tab:

3. Select "Match all contacts in Microsoft Dynamics CRM" and "Match all items in Microsoft Dynamics CRM"
4. Click OK
5. Synchronize with CRM by choose "Synchronize with CRM" from the CRM menu
6. Return to CRM Address book. You should now see entries there.

You might need to synch several times before they all get there.  This setting is not set by default in 4.0 for some reason.

这次在中银国际的项目部署上碰到了好多问题，最变态的是这个，有关 CRM4 安装在多台服务器上的问题，2台APP配置成 Network Load Balancing，CRM4自带页面什么的都没有问题，而我们自定义的页面调用 Web Services 的时候全部去找第一台机器，晕死了，找了大半天都没发现原因所在，最后迫不得已在注册表中启用了 Trace，这才找到点线索，最后发现原来是藏在数据库里面，MSCRM_CONFIG 库里面的 DeploymentProperties 表，有2个字段， ADsdkRootDomain 和 ADWebApplicationRootDomain， 这里记录下的是第一台CRM Application 的计算机名，所以即使配置了NLB, 所有的通过 CRM SDK 的自定制页面还是会去找第一台机器的 Web Services， 该死的微软，提都不提一下的，把这2个改成 Localhost 或者 NLB Cluster 的名字，重启 IIS 就好了

后来，在网上又搜到了这篇文章，发布日期还挺新的，看来部署这种场景的人不多

TAM职位 时隔半年,同一职位的第二次面试
挂了就挂了,如果真是我技术不过关我也认了,问我说什么最强,我说AD和Exchange,然后面试官问我一个Exchange 2007的问题,说CAS和Hub安装在同一台机器的时候,能不能做NLB.我说可以,面试官很肯定地说不行,叫我回去查下文档,我问他为什么不成,他又 说不出来,只是叫我回去自己看.当下我也不好跟他争什么,回去后我把国外几个MVP写的关于这个问题的解决方案的文章链接发给他,他居然回复我说,他连 Exchange 2007 都没有安装过!!!

我Faint,他看到我的简历上的熟悉的微软的产品的列表,说除了CRM之外,其它的都熟,我当时觉得还挺佩服他的,牛人啊.现在就不得不怀疑了,只是在纸上谈兵么?

还有,真的要问这些个细节的问题么,看看简历上做过些什么东西不就清楚了?回答不上1~2个问题并说明不了什么,微软产品线那么广,不可能对每个产品都是专家,也不可能每个产品的每个技术细节都记得那么清楚的,主要还是看解决方案和思路嘛!!

解决 ForeFront For Exchange 2007 升级病毒扫描引擎时出现的超时问题

Recently I noticed the following error in the Application Event log:

Forefront Server Security has rolled back a scan engine.
Scan Engine: Kaspersky5

This was happening every 5 minutes after Event ID 2034, which reports that Microsoft Forefront Server Security is attempting a scan engine update of the Kaspersky5 scan engine.

To solve this error make the following change to the registry on the server running Forefront:

• Open Regedit


• Navigate to the following key:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Forefront Server Security\Exchange Server

• Click New DWORD Value


• Type EngineDownloadTimeout, and then press ENTER


• Right-click the new value and select Modify


• Select Decimal as the base, enter 600 in the Value data box, and then click OK. This setting causes the scan engine download process to time out after 600 seconds (10 minutes, instead of 5 minutes)


• Exit Regedit

Note: You do not have to restart Forefront Server services or Exchange Server services after you change this registry entry.

Now perform a manual scanner update in Forefront:

• Open Forefront Server Security Administrator


• Click Scanner Updates under Settings


• Select the appropriate scan engine that was previously timing out. In my case, Kaspersky Antivirus Technology


• Click the Update Now button on the right side of the screen

Check the Application event log to ensure that the scan engine has updated properly (Event ID 2012).

今天周六，也是三八妇女节，呵呵，趁着日子不错，去把 70-296 给考完了，MCSE 2000 的升级考试。现在再不考就快来不及了，3月31日后，这门考试就取消了，还好～ 我终于赶上了
考前还出了个小插曲，老是把身份号码输错，结果后来看了半天，第一个是字母 I 而不是数字 1 囧
感觉题目比 70-292 要容易一点，大多考的是证书、域信任、DNS等等，在1～2个题目上有些疑问，蒙了一下，结果出来居然是 1000 满分! 看来运气不错

We have been made aware that some of our Exchange 2007 customers have been experiencing the following issue today:

When trying to make certain configuration changes such as new-mailbox or enable-mailbox, certain set of our customers would receive the following error:

"The Exchange server address list service failed to respond. This could be because of an address list or email address policy configuration error."

Additionally, if you have attempted to set up new Exchange 2007 servers today, your setup might have failed because of the same error.

After investigation of this problem we have learned that this problem would occur only if you have started or restarted the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant service between 12:00AM UTC , Feb 29, 2008 and 12:00AM UTC, Mar 1, 2008. It is important to note that the times  involved are UTC, not local server time.

If you are impacted by this, all that you have to do is restart the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant service after the midnight UTC, March 1, 2008. Restart of the System Attendant will not disrupt your Information Store service.

HMC 4.0 -  Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 - White Paper

Overview

This white paper introduces the Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) new features related to the Microsoft Solution for Hosted Messaging and Collaboration version 4.0. In particular, it addresses key features in anywhere access, built-in protection, and operation efficiency.

千呼万唤始出来，终于明确支持 Exchange 2007 SP1了

If you are installing CRM 4.0 on a machine without Internet access (eg. a VPC running only on a Loopback Adapter) you might run into some problems when CRM tries to download pre-requisite packages. Our DVD version (not out yet - it's being 'manufactured') ships with these prerequisites but the downloads do not.
The simplest way is to install each of the Pre-Req's manually. The best place to search for these is download.microsoft.com. I'll refrain from posting links as these redistributable packages are always being updated.
The Visual C++ Redistributable Package presents us with a slightly different challenge. The package is unable to detect it's installed state so CRM always installs it. So we need to create a Redist folder, subfolders for i386/amd64, a VCRedist folder and then place the VC++ install files there. Your full folder structure should look like this:

• \Redist\i386\VCRedist\vcredist_x86.exe
• \Redist\i386\VCRedist\vcredist_x64.exe
• \Redist\amd64\VCRedist\vcredist_x64.exe
• \Server\i386\SetupServer.exe
• \Server\amd64\SetupServer.exe
• \Client\SetupClient.exe
• \DMWizard\SetupDMClient.exe
• \Exchange\i386\setupexchange.exe
• \Exchange\amd64\setupexchange.exe

I added this setup.exes to the list to show the folder structure for the Server, Client, DM and Router (the Exchange folder). Note that the Redist folder is a peer to the Server and Client.

Each edition may be converted to a full use version by applying a commercial license key in the Microsoft CRM License Manager. A re-install of the software is not required. You will need to convert the license key to a commercial license before the 90-day period ends, as the 90 day period cannot be extended, and Users will not be warned of the impending expiration. Should expiration occur, access can be regained by applying a commercial license key.

Build Number:

• The final build number was 4.0.7333.3
• If you were involved in the pre-release programs please make sure that you clean up all your old DLLs for older versions.
• You will want to recompile any code against the RTM Microsoft.Crm.Sdk.dll and Microsoft.Crm.SdkTypeProxy.dll. These two assemblies can be found in the GAC folder of the Server Install.
• If you use a static copy of the Discovery Service (like I do) you should also grab a new copy of this. Remember that the WSDL for the discovery service is interchangeable between WLID, Windows and IFD authentication end-points.

"Microsoft announced Monday that it has released to manufacturing the long-awaited update to its Dynamics-branded customer relationship management software (CRM).

Previously codenamed "Titan," the latest version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM actually has two names in its final form. For on-premise, customer-hosted, as well as partner-hosted deployments, the product has been dubbed Dynamics CRM 4.0. The company will also be offering the package on-demand in a Microsoft-hosted environment that it has named Dynamics CRM Live.

Existing and new customers will be able to download the update when it's released on the Web this week, a Microsoft official told InternetNews.com. The Microsoft-hosted version, however, continues to run under the early access program that the company began in September.

       上个月月底去了在汉唐大厦的微软深圳办公室面试，应聘职位是 TAM (Technical Account Manager).
       面试进行了2个小时，分别由来自用人部门的2位工程师面试，不过我表现得并不好，看那意思我还太嫩了，据说目前该职位的最小年龄的也有30了，最后的那位面试官还老是在问我在微软有没有认识的朋友，看出来如果内部有人还是会好办一点，切，最终还是免不了这种人际关系，我当然没有认识的了，或者说我认识人家，人家不认识我。出来后我感觉是要挂了，给面试官和HR发了一份面试感谢信，结果没过几天收到 FESCO 的拒信，果然。
       最郁闷的是我还不怎么清楚到底与这个职位的要求相比，我在哪里比较差一点，发信给其中的一个面试官，问问是哪里还差点，居然没有回复，让我对微软的印象大打折扣，TNND，算了，挂了就挂了，以后还有机会。

最近几个月的 TechNet Magazine 都有不少好文章和好东西下载，感兴趣的可以去看看，中文的页面已经做得很不错了，翻译质量也还不错，比机器翻译的 KB 的文章要好很多。

Last week when I was in the Microsoft office in Russia the topic of deploying HMC4 with Windows 2003 R2 including SP2 came to the table.

As most of us know, this has been an issue for a long time, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Since HMC4 came out, SP2 gave serious issues on the MPS servers, so on all deployments up to now, SP1 was the way to go.

So much for the history and the bad part...

The good news is.. Microsoft has a fix for the issue since last week !! ( YEAH !!)

To obtain this fix, call Microsoft Support, open a case, asking for Hotfix 324346, kB 939216. This fix will only be available via MS Support for now.

We are planning to build an environment with SP2 soon and I'll post an update when we have first-hand experience with it.

主要问题是如果你在 AD 里面新创建了一个用户，但是在 TFS 的用户管理里面却看不到这个新建的用户，有可能要过很长时间（比如说1天）才能同步过来。而默认的同步时间应该是1个小时，微软已经确认这是个程序的 Bug，受影响的产品包括 RTM 和 SP1.

Exam 70-292 : Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment for a W2K MCSA

Next 70-296! It's about 5 years after I got MCSA/MCSE 2000

I suggest people who want to pass this test should take more time on IIS, WSUS, shadow copy, DNS, Backup, Teminal Service, GPO, It's not easy.Good Luck!

在写完本文时，发现微软已经开始了 Windows Server 2008 的认证程序， 而且不支持从 MCSE 2000 升级，只能从 MCSE/MCSA 2003 升级， orz ， 产品都还没正式发布啊. Faint!
